QuickChess is a simplified version of
the classic game of Chess. The game is played on a 5x6 board and is perfect for
beginners to learn the strategies.
All pieces move as normal chess with
the following simplifications:
Pawns can only move forward one space on their
first move.
There is no castling allowed.
No en passant captures are allowed.
A pawn can only be promoted to a captured
piece.
If 20 moves are played and there has been no checkmate
or promotion, then the winner is decided by points.

The Basic rules of QuickChess
Pawns move only one square forward and can take a
piece diagonally in front of them
Bishops can move any number of squares diagonally.
Knights move in an ‘L’ shape. Either 1 square then 2
squares at a right angle OR 2 squares then 1 square at a right angle. Only
knights can jump over other pieces
Rooks can move any number of squares horizontally or
vertically
The Queen can move any number of squares horizontally,
vertically or diagonally.
If a King could be captured on the next turn, he is
‘in Check’. The player must find a way to get the King out of check by
either a) Moving the King to a square where he is no longer in check. b)
Capturing the piece that has put the King in check. c) Placing a piece in
the way and ‘blocking’ the check.
If a King is unable to get out of check then it is
called ‘Checkmate’ and the game finishes.
